Do you know how many types of fluff I have in my shop?
What actually is fluff?
Fluff is the most versatile, natural looking newborn photo prop in your prop stash!
But how can Fluff enhance your newborn setups and which variety should you choose?
Definition: Fluff is a mass of fluffy wool, a bundle of soft woolly curls loose or fixed together, squish it, cuddle it and definitely try it! The wool is generally from locally sourced sheep in lots of different breeds but can also be from an alpaca.
Fluff is used mainly used as a ‘basket stuffer’ …that’s a general term so go for it; use it in a basket, bowl, bed, box or anything you want to lay your newborn in! It can be the main attraction or it can be combined on top or underneath other layers for added colour or texture.
I have listed below the 6 types of fluff I currently make along with a description and a key point highlighting the main benefit for each variety of fluff.
Cloud Fluff
…is really fluffed up sheeps wool, lots of air in it, light and bouncy exactly like a white cloud! It’s usually a bit wavy with a slight curl definition here and there! Comes loose in a chiffon storage bag, you can pull it, squish it and generally arrange exactly how you want it. Can be a lovely cushioned just for your newborn.
Key Points – the ability to be more creative and produce a truly unique image because you can pull, squish and arrange exactly how you want it!

Texture Fluff
…also known as loose curls. It’s still fluff but it’s not really ‘fluffy’ but a bundle of wool locks with clearly defined curls and slightly fluffed up ends. Comes loose in a chiffon storage bag, you can pull it, drape it and generally arrange exactly how you want it.
Key Points – the ability to be individually creative because you can pull the individual curls out and drape, hang and position exactly how you want it them!
Fairy Fluff
…the same as cloud fluff but more magical like a fairy! Sheeps Wool combined with shiny silk, super soft alpaca and if you’re very lucky some sparkles!
Key Points – the ability to be more creative and produce a truly unique image because you can pull, squish and arrange exactly how you want it! Extra super soft, with a sheen and and a few sparkles for a magical image.
In part 2 we will look at Layer Fluff, Felted Curly Fluff and Felted Shaggy Fluff
